What Happened) It
was a Sunday afternoon and we were all sitting inside the
Grand Hall at the Town and Country Convention Center playing
bridge. At some point, the large metal overhead door
(shown open in the photo) began shaking exactly like an angry
truck driver was standing outside periodically kicking it in
effort to get let in. Well, since it was the last couple
hours of the tournament and I was the closest thoughtful
person to the door, I got up to go and let the truck driver
inside. Of course, when I looked outside there was no
one there but the door was still banging away every few
seconds. I returned inside to relate this strange
occurrence but before I could say anything someone in the room
shouted out, “Hey, I think it is an earthquake.” As soon
as I heard that I turned around and went right back
outside. Although it is perhaps an exaggeration to say
that I panicked, I did not exactly wait around to see that Pam
made it out safe either. Fortunately, Pam is able to
think and remember clearly in situations like this.
Perhaps you should ask her for the unbiased version of what
actually happened. (1)
